The Art of Imitating Life

Each creative journey begins with a vision—whether it’s a slice of pizza or cheesecake. Through careful planning, every step is carefully crafted to bring that vision to life. 

 

Knead 

The first step in working with air-drying clay is choosing the right type of clay for the project. Start by kneading the clay thoroughly to soften and make it more workable. Once softened, blend in acrylic or oil paint to achieve the ideal base color.

Sculpt

Next comes sculpting, where base forms are shaped with a focus on precise proportions. To add realism, tools like dotting tools or everyday household items, such as toothbrushes, are used to create textures that closely resemble real food.

Paint

After the sculpting process, the clay needs to dry completely, which usually takes about 2 weeks. Once dried, the real magic begins: painting. Using acrylic or oil paint, intricate shades are blended, and highlights are added to bring the piece to life.

Assemble

This is the final—and most satisfying—step in the process. Every component is carefully pressed into place, ensuring a seamless fit without distorting their shapes. A final coat of varnish is then applied to protect the piece and give it a polished finish.
